As part of the Service Systems Workshop, we worked on the food waste system in Chicago. Floop is a sustainable online-only grocery store. The groceries are either fresh foods from the local farmers, imperfect or 'ugly' foods which doesn't satisfy typical grocery store guidelines, or leftovers close to expiring from the local grocery stores. Floop offers a convenient and straightforward food waste collection service. The service collects compostable food waste for composting and returns it to local farmers at their farms. Our team set up a transparent, trusted process to track distribution and ensure that compost is delivered to the farmer.
